HAKODATE Travel Tips

〜Hakodate through my lens: Real stories, Real advice〜

Your Personal Concierge in Hakodate – Local Secrets from a Hotel Professional.

Hi there! I’m so happy you found your way to my blog.

Whether you’re planning your very first trip to Japan or you’re a seasoned traveler looking for your next adventure, I’m here to help you discover the hidden charms of my beautiful hometown, Hakodate.

1. Who am I? A Hotelier with a Love for My Hometown

I was born and raised right here in Hakodate. Currently, I work at a local hotel in the city.

Actually, I used to work at a hotel in Tokyo. But while I was there, I realized just how special my hometown really is. I felt a strong urge to share the magic of Hakodate with the world and help revitalize the city through the smiles of its visitors. So, I decided to move back!

What makes Hakodate special—unlike Sapporo, Asahikawa, or Otaru—is that it is a perfectly compact city. The JR station, Shinkansen, airport, and port are all closely connected. This means your sightseeing adventure begins the very moment you arrive!

From the breathtaking cherry blossoms at Goryokaku in spring to the incredibly fresh seafood and glittering night views in winter—I’m not just a writer. I’m your “local neighbor” who can’t wait to share these experiences with you.

2. The Mission: Being Your “Local Wisdom”

Travel is amazing, but language barriers or unexpected weather can sometimes be overwhelming. My goal is to be your most reliable resource and your “cane before you fall” (Korobanu saki no tsue).

• Beyond Guidebooks: I provide real-time, local info that major travel magazines often miss.

• Your Safety Net: I share practical advice on how to handle local situations, like heavy snow or earthquakes, so you can stay calm and safe.

• The “Real” Hakodate: I’ll introduce you to local hidden gems, deep history (like the samurai of the Shinsengumi), and the best seasonal flavors.

3. Let’s Chat!

This blog is a place for us to connect. Please feel free to reach out!

Hope to bump into you somewhere in Hakodate!
  • Need help with your itinerary? If you’re not sure about your plans, leave a comment! I’ll give you advice from the perspective of both a local and a professional hotelier.
  • Topic Requests: Is there a specific restaurant, transport method, or local etiquette you’re curious about? Your questions help me make this blog better for everyone.

I believe that knowledge turns anxiety into excitement. I want you to feel 100% confident and ready to fall in love with Hakodate!

Enjoy every moment of your Hakodate journey, and travel safe!
