[Stay Report] 1-Min from the Station & A Conan Anime Holy Site! A Pro’s Guide to Premier Hotel -CABIN- Hakodate

Hello everyone! When choosing a base for your travels in Hakodate, what are your top priorities? For most travelers, it comes down to excellent access from the station and overall room comfort.

Recently, I stayed at “Premier Hotel -CABIN- Hakodate,” located right in front of JR Hakodate Station. I stayed in their “Premier Twin” (24㎡) room.

As a local hotel professional, I’ve put together a thorough review of this property—covering its unmatched convenience, the room’s surprisingly perfect climate control, important dining rules, and even a hidden “holy site” that anime fans absolutely cannot miss!

1. Access and Lobby: A 1-Minute Walk from the Station & A Detective Conan Holy Site!

The hotel is located directly across the rotary from JR Hakodate Station, boasting an incredible 1-minute walk. If you are traveling with heavy suitcases or facing bad weather, you can check in with zero stress. The lobby also features a very convenient foreign currency exchange machine.

But here is a special insider tip for anime and movie fans! The 1.st-floor lobby area of this hotel actually appears as a location in the hit anime movie, “Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram”! If you’ve seen the film or love Japanese anime culture, it is the perfect spot to stop by and snap a memorable photo.

2. Room Review: Perfect A/C, Humidity Control, and Great Functional Features

The “Premier Twin” room spans 24 square meters and features a highly functional layout. There is plenty of open floor space to lay two large suitcases flat without blocking your way. Depending on your room, the windows offer views of either the station side or Mount Hakodate.

💡 Small Details to Keep in Mind (Pros & Cons)

  • Flawless Climate and Humidity Control (Highly Recommended!): The absolute highlight of this room was its comfort. On the night of my stay, the outside temperature was a chilly 3°C, but the heating worked instantly to warm up the room. Even better was the humidity. The room comes with a clock that displays the humidity level. Even with the A/C and humidifier running all night, the room perfectly maintained a 55% humidity level until morning! Japanese hotel rooms can get notoriously dry in the winter, but this room beautifully protects your throat and skin.
  • Bedside Power: Right by the pillow, you’ll find one electrical outlet and one USB port. Being able to charge both your smartphone and a mobile battery right next to you is a fantastic feature for modern travelers.
  • Premium Coffee Maker: The room is equipped with a premium capsule-style coffee machine (UCC DRIP POD). Waking up to a fresh, high-quality cup of brewed coffee is a wonderful touch.
  • Business Amenities: Inside the closet, you will find shoe-shining paper, a clothes brush, and a shoehorn—ideal touches for business travelers or anyone wanting to keep their outfits looking sharp.
  • Hallway Noise: While the room itself is incredibly cozy, sounds from the hallway tend to echo into the room a bit more easily compared to some other hotels. It is something to keep in mind if you are a very sensitive sleeper.

3. Restaurant Etiquette: Specific Rules Regarding Room Pajamas

While some hotels in Japan allow guests to wear room pajamas and slippers to the on-site restaurant, policies vary greatly depending on the property.

At Premier Hotel -CABIN- Hakodate, there is a strict rule: “Please refrain from entering the restaurant (breakfast venue) wearing room wear (pajamas) or slippers.”

The hotel provides very comfortable, high-quality, two-piece pajamas in the room. While they are wonderfully designed, they are strictly meant to be worn inside your room only. When heading down for breakfast, make sure to change into your regular clothes and shoes!

4. Nearby Shops: Incredible Convenience with 4 Major Spots Directly Connected

While the hotel itself doesn’t have a souvenir shop inside, it sits directly above and adjacent to a fantastic lineup of essential shops on the first floor:

  1. Matsuoka Shoten: Great for classic Hokkaido souvenirs and local alcohol.
  2. Daikoku Drug: A highly popular tax-free drugstore for international travelers.
  3. Hasegawa Store: A famous local convenience store where you can buy Hakodate’s iconic “Yakitori Bento”!
  4. Ramen Shop: Perfect for a quick, local late-night meal just steps away.

You don’t have to walk out in the cold or rain to buy gifts, pick up medicine, or grab a late-night takeout meal—everything is right there on the ground floor.

Conclusion

Premier Hotel -CABIN- Hakodate is far more than just a convenient spot right next to the station. With its professional-grade climate control, 4 connected ground-floor shops, and a fun Detective Conan holy site connection, it eliminates the typical stresses of traveling.

While you should keep the hallway noise and the restaurant dress code in mind, this hotel is a top-tier recommendation for global travelers looking for a smart, comfortable, and culturally fun stay in Hakodate!
